Mills taking positives from Olympic absence

A year on from the London 2012 Olympics, Joanna Mills says she learned a lot about herself from missing out on competing at the Games.

The 400m runner admits the situation was difficult at the time but believes her experience was "a positive thing" which "built character that I wouldn't otherwise have had".

The 20-year-old has since switched her athletics allegiance from Ireland to Great Britain and Northern Ireland and despite suffering from a foot injury, she is aiming for a second appearance at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014.
