European 5,000 and 10,000m champion Mo Farah has announced he will compete in the Bupa Great North Run weekend in the North East on 17 and 18 September.
The 28-year-old will either run a two-mile race between Great Britain and the United States on the Saturday, or the following day's half-marathon.
Farah will make his decision after August's World Championships, where he is scheduled to compete in the 10,000m.
He is also considering the 5,000m event in Daegu, South Korea.
In previous appearances on Tyneside in the Great North CityGames, Farah is a two-time winner of the mile race, and was a 2007 winner of the 3,000m event.
