Holding the 2022 Fifa World Cup in December would benefit the Commonwealth Games, says the president of the Commonwealth Games Federation.
A Fifa taskforce has recommended football's showpiece event take place in November and December in Qatar.
Should the World Cup be moved from its traditional June/July slot, it would leave the Commonwealth Games as the only major event of that summer.
Prince Imran said: "It's very good news for us. It's an opportunity for us."
Durban in South Africa is the only remaining bidder to host the 2022 Games after Canadian city Edmonton withdrew.
Prince Imran said hosting the event in South Africa for the first time would "open up Africa to the rest of the Commonwealth".
