Luka Murn joined BBC Research & Development in October 2018, filling the role of Graduate R&D Engineer as an Early Stage Researcher with the JOLT Marie Sklodowska-Curie European Training Network programme. His main research interest is improving traditional signal processing methods, such as image and video compression or speech recognition, using deep learning algorithms.
Prior to joining BBC R&D, Luka received his BSc and MSc in Information Processing from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb in 2016 and 2018, respectively. His master's thesis revolved around unsupervised speech emotion recognition using autoencoder-based neural network architectures. During his studies, he worked as a software engineering intern in an international telecommunications company and, prior to that, worked on developing a face recognition web-application.
