[Editor: A few weeks ago we recorded a series of short films around R&D with Quentin Cooper, host of "Material World" and "Connect" on Radio 4, and science and engineering "journalist at large". We shot quite a few mini documentaries with Quentin, looking at various recent, and not so recent elements of the work at R&D, interviewing key staff and playing with various perculiar bits of kit.

We'll be slotting these films into the blog posts here over the next couple of months, and to start the ball rolling we've the first section of an in depth three part interview with the controller of R&D, Matthew Postgate.
