Nightwear 29th December 2009
How and why do we choose what we wear to bed?

Did your Christmas stocking contain a lacy nightie or some cosy pyjamas? And if the latter, have you managed to get out of them yet?  The cold weather has encouraged all of us to stay in doors and wrap up, and the latest trend for comfort wear appears to be the slanket - a blanket with sleeves - which before Christmas was selling like hot cakes. But for those of us who prefer to look a little more glamorous of an evening, what do you choose to wear to bed?  Jane takes a look at nightwear past and present with Beatrice Behlen, senior curator of fashion at the Museum of London and Kerry Potter, Features director of Elle Magazine.
