Podcasting
A new piece of technology, called podcasting, allows you to download a mp3 file whenever it is updated. In Our Time now supports podcasting, so you can now schedule to download a new programme as soon as it is made available as an mp3 file.
How to use the podcasting technology.
Podcasting enables anyone to have In Our Time delivered automatically to their PC or Mac whenever a new mp3 file is placed on the website each week (assuming, of course, that their computer is logged onto the internet). You have to download a little application, such as iPodder (follow this link for a useful list of such applications), which searches the web to find the new version of MP3 files you've selected. Our files are "tagged" so the iPodder can find them. You can then load the file from your computer into your mp3 player.
To schedule downloads of In Our Time's mp3 file, cut and paste the following link into your podcast application: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/history/inourtime/mp3/podcast.xml
It is important to emphasise that podcasting is the most experimental part of the trial. Feedback from users has been positive but some users may encounter problems. You can email to us your reactions by using the form below.
