Australia braces itself for one of its worst ever bushfire threats

More than 50 blazes are burning across the state of New South Wales.

A vast area of Australia's east coast - including Sydney - is bracing itself for one of the nation's worst ever bushfire threats; some schools and universities in Hong Kong remain closed on Tuesday over safety fears as protesters called for a day of traffic disruptions; and a former British Army officer honoured by the Queen for his work with the White Helmets civil defence group in Syria has been found dead in Turkey.
