UN calls for investigation in Cameroon atrocities
UN calls for independent investigations in recent separatist region's violence
The UN Secretary General's Advisor, Adama Dieng, has called for immediate independent investigations of recent outbreaks of violence in Cameroon's separatist regions, and asked for the perpetrators to be brought to justice "urgently". He also says urgent measures need to be taken to prevent the country from sliding into further violence. Hundreds of people have been killed in violence between Government troops and Anglophone separatists. Elections in Cameroon are due to take place on 7th October.
