Per Boye Hansen

Per Boye Hansen is a Norwegian opera director and manager. He has worked in opera for more than 30 years. He studied at the Folkwang Hochschule music academy in Essen, where he was awarded a diploma in opera directing in 1982. He was founder and artistic director of the Oslo Summer Opera from 1983 to 1992 and directed a number of operas for this company. From 1983 to 1988 he was Assistant Director at the Cologne Opera and also worked as Assistant Director at the Salzburg Festival.

From 1990 to 2000 he was the owner and director of the Oslo Arts Management company. In 2000 Hansen joined the management at the Komische Oper Berlin where he worked as Director together with Andreas Homoki. After leaving Berlin, Per Boye Hansen was the General and Artistic director of the Bergen International Festival from 2005 until 2012. In 2011 the Norwegian Minister of Culture appointed Per Boye Hansen as chairman of the committee for the Ibsen International Award and he was appointed Artistic Director of the Norwegian National Opera in Oslo in 2012.
