Paul Milne chooses the 1970 film Five Easy Pieces, directed by Bob Rafelson and starring Jack Nicholson as an oil rig worker who in his youth was a talented pianist. It received four Oscar nominations - for Nicholson, his co-star Karen Black, screenwriter Carole Eastman and Rafelson for Best Picture.
