Dr Ranj Singh
He's about to catch Saturday night fever!
|Fact title||Fact data|
NHS Doctor and TV presenter
Will this doctor's moves send pulses racing? It's almost time to find out!
Dr Ranj Singh grew up in a traditional Sikh household in Kent, throwing himself into his school work (and getting his first GCSE at age eight!), before heading off to university in London to begin his medical career. He trained at various hospitals in the capital before becoming a member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health In 2007, and kickstarted his media career soon after.
Currently an NHS doctor specialising in the health of young people at London's St Georges and St Thomas’ hospitals, Dr Ranj has been balancing his roles as a TV presenter and GP for many years. From 2012 to 2015 he presented CBBC's Get Well Soon, going on to become This Morning's resident doctor and co-host of ITV's Save Money: Good Health.
He's also an avid writer, penning two educational children's books and is a regular columnist for NetDoctor and Attitude Magazine.
So it's clear that Dr Ranj has the brains to succeed, but will his smarts help him out in the Ballroom?
"I am a geek," he said. "I like to study and study things until I get it right and I’m hoping that attention to detail in learning will help me pick stuff up, but what I’ve learned is that learning movement is totally different to learning information, so I don’t know what it’s going to be like."
Grab your notebook Dr Ranj - you're about to learn some very tough (and sweaty) lessons!
