No stranger to glitz, glamour and sequins, Kimberley Walsh is best known for being one fifth of girl group, Girls Aloud. The fabulous five were put together in a reality television show Pop Stars: The Rivals in 2002 and have since achieved twenty consecutive top ten singles in the UK with hits such as I’ll Stand by You, Walk This Way and The Promise. The girls have gone on to release five albums, received five BRIT Award nominations and sell over ten million records worldwide.
I’d love to stay to the end - it can’t be harder than climbing a mountain!Kimberley Walsh
Kimberley was born and raised in Bradford with her two sisters and younger brother. It seems stardom didn’t only run through Kimberley’s blood, as her older sister Sally appeared in Emmerdale between 1997 and 2000.
Prior to Girls Aloud, Kimberley attended the Bradford-based theatre school Stage 84 and appeared in various adverts and stage productions when she was younger.
In 2009 Kimberley joined Cheryl Cole, Gary Barlow and a host of other celebrities to climb Mount Kilimanjaro for Comic Relief. The group raised over £1million.
Later in the year, Girls Aloud announced they would be taking a hiatus to pursue solo projects. Since then, Kimberley has added a string of roles to her belt. She went on to present music talk show Suck My Pop and starred as a judge for entertainment show Born to Shine.
In 2010, Kimberley landed a role in Horrid Henry: The Movie. She didn’t leave the music too far behind as she recorded a feature song for the film and teamed up with Alfie Boe earlier this year to record a version of Queen’s One Vision for the official Team Great Britain single.
In 2011 Kimberley made her stage debut, playing Princess Fiona in the London production of Shrek the Musical.
