BBC Cardiff Singer of the World and Song Prize competitor

Born in Villach, Markus trained at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna and has won competitions in both Austria (Jugend musiziert) and Slovakia (Hommage à Lucia Popp).

His opera engagements have included the roles of Dr Falke Die Fledermaus, Dottore Malatesta Don Pasquale and Dandini La Cenerentola all for the Vienna Volksoper, Bohus Jacobin (Dvorak) for the Wexford Festival Opera, Guglielmo Così fan tutte at La Fenice in Venice, the title role in Don Giovanni at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Papageno Die Zauberflöte at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna and later in 2003 at the Theatre di Capitole, Toulouse.

Markus came to Cardiff having just finished a series of performances in the role of Olivier Capriccio conducted by Frübeck de Burgos.
