Angharad Lyddon

Mezzo from Wales - 30 years old

I come from Wrexham and studied at the Royal Academy of Music, where my roles for Royal Academy Opera included Lucretia (The Rape of Lucretia), Baba the Turk (The Rake's Progress) and Zita (Gianni Schicchi). During my studies, I was a Kohn Foundation Bach Cantata Scholar and performed with many prominent Bach experts, including Sir John Eliot Gardiner.

I’m a Samling Artist and won Third Prize at Thomas Quastoff’s Das Lied International Song Competition in Heidelberg in 2015.

Recent engagements include Olga (Eugene Onegin) for Opra Cymru; Woodpecker (Cunning Little Vixen) for Glyndebourne where I was a Jerwood Young Artist in 2013; Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro) for Clonter Opera; Third Lady (Die Zauberflöte) in Turku, Finland; Suzuki (Madama Butterfly) for Salon Opera; and Julia Bertram (Mansfield Park) for the Grange Festival. This year includes performances in Boito's Mefistofele for Chelsea Opera Group in March; a recital at St David’s Hall in April; and Olga (Eugene Onegin) with Buxton Opera in July.

Concert highlights include recitals at the Wigmore Hall and Stravinsky's The Faun and the Shepherdess at the Royal Festival Hall with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Vladimir Jurowski.

When I’m not singing, I enjoy watching documentaries, practising yoga and eating delicious food!
