Hannah French

Yorkshire-born Hannah French is a musical butterfly: a broadcaster and academic, a public speaker and educator, and a baroque flautist.

She first broadcast on Radio 3 as a panellist on the short series Baroque Busted in 2013, and since then has appeared regularly on the Early Music Show, Early Music Late, Record Review, and the Lunchtime Concert. She’s also been a commentator and presenter of the BBC Proms on BBC2 and BBC4 and has appeared on documentaries with Gareth Malone and Paul Morley.

Hannah graduated with a first in music from Birmingham University and studied baroque flute at the Royal Academy of Music before completing her PhD at the University of Leeds. She was a lecturer at the Royal Academy of Music for 12 years and has taught at the Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto. Her book, Sir Henry Wood and J.S. Bach, is published by Boydell Press in 2019.
