Meet Charlotte Hawkins

“The glitter, the glamour, the fake tan, bring it on. It’s going to be amazing.”

Saying Good Morning Britain to the nation since the start of it’s launch in 2014, Charlotte is switching breaking news for the ballroom! But will she be lifting the Strictly Glitterball Trophy in the final?

I cannot wait to be Strictly-fied, to have the strictly experience. The glitter, the fake tan, the glamour, bring it on. It’s going to be amazing!

Charlotte’s academic background, includes a post-grad diploma in Broadcast Journalism from Manchester University, which was the foundations of her career in broadcast. Reporting for a range of news programmes, including ITN and LBC Radio, she has co-anchored and hosted a number of shows. She worked at Sky News for seven years with Eamonn Holmes, fellow Strictly contestant - Ruth Langsford’s husband. Who will he be cheering along from the stalls?

“When I first told my husband [about Strictly] he said are they putting you in as the Ed Balls’ character? But I think he was winding me up!”

During her career, she’s interviewed the likes of David Beckham, Oprah Winfrey and Sir Paul McCartney. Not a stranger to the red carpet, after hosting Sky News’ BAFTA’s show and The Oscars in LA, it’s time for her to hit the red carpet again, but this time she’ll be coated in sequins!

Alongside her busy schedule both in front of the camera and with her husband and daughter, she still makes time to support several charities and is a Patron of Motor Neurone Disease Association. With her alarm clock set to 2.40am every morning, Charlotte will surely be able to squeeze in a Fox-Trot, a Jive and a Tango in, all before breakfast!
