Graeme Jenkins

Conductor- Orchestra of Welsh National Opera

Graeme Jenkins is renowned for the breadth of his opera repertoire, spanning the baroque, core Italian and German masterworks to contemporary works. Currently Music Director of Dallas Opera, he was previously Music Director of Glyndebourne Touring Opera and Principal Guest Conductor of Cologne Opera.

He has conducted in the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, at Glyndebourne and Glimmerglass and with English National Opera, Scottish Opera, Opera North, Paris Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Netherlands Opera, Australian Opera and Canadian Opera.

Highlights from his time in Dallas include The Ring, Wozzeck, Ariodante, Lohengrin, Boris Godunov, Lucia di Lammermoor and The Magic Flute. This season he conducts Aida and The Aspern Papers by Dominick Argento.

Since his debut at Vienna State Opera, with Billy Budd in 2005, he has conducted Jenufa, Der fliegende Holländer, Cavalleria rusticana and Pagliacci there. In 2013 Graeme Jenkins returns for Peter Grimes and makes his Welsh National Opera debut in Maria Stuarda.

Engagements in recent seasons have included Le nozze di Figaro at Theater an der Wien; Hänsel und Gretel for his debut with Bayerische Staatsoper; La clemenza di Tito and Don Carlos for Royal Danish Opera and La Cenerentola and Il barbiere di Siviglia with Royal Swedish Opera.

Graeme Jenkins’ choral and orchestral conducting includes the Minnesota, Dallas, Houston, Melbourne, Perth and Gulbenkian orchestras, the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Danish National Symphony Orchestra. Engagements in 2013 include concerts in Munich, Prague and Toulon.
