Hackett is an Inspector in the Dublin Gardai. He’s happily married with two sons.
Hackett will never be one of the force’s high flyers but he’s tenacious and worries away at cases until he solves the mystery. Many people have learned the hard way that it’s a mistake to underestimate him. Hackett has a sly wit and an unassuming manner. Quirke and Hackett’s work sometimes causes them to butt heads but they have a mutual respect and they often enjoy a drink together.
Stanley Townsend has worked extensively in theatre and television. He has appeared in numerous productions at the National Theatre, including Remember This and Guys and Dolls, and was nominated for Best Actor in the Evening Standard Theatre Awards for his performance in Conor McPherson’s Shining City.
His many film roles include Mike Leigh’s Happy-Go-Lucky, The Libertine with Johnny Depp, and Cars 2.
He was recently seen as Milton Katselas in the BBC Four drama Burton & Taylor, alongside Helena Bonham Carter and Dominic West.
