Phil is executive chef at Berners Tavern in London.

Growing up in Cowbridge, South Wales, he first realised his passion for cooking working part time in local restaurants whilst still at school.
Following training with Michael Roux Jnr at Le Gavroche, Phil met Great British Menu heavyweight Jason Atherton in 2004.
Working alongside Jason on the launch of Gordon Ramsay’s Maze, Phil quickly became Atherton’s right hand man; he headed up the kitchen at Maze in Prague where he won his first Michelin star.
Phil assisted Jason in the launch of Pollen Street Social in 2011, and the restaurant opened to critical acclaim and was awarded its first Michelin star in 2012. Phil has been involved in Little Social, which opened in March 2013, before opening Berners Tavern with Jason in September 2013.
This is his first time in the competition and his menu reflects some nostalgic dishes from his childhood, as well as the roots of the Women’s Institute.
