Britpop at the BBC
Check out this handy round-up of everything we have planned for the Brtipop at the BBC season
Christmas and New Year
We've got a host of special programmes in our schedule celebrating the Christmas period and taking you into the New Year with style.
Kicking festivities off on Friday 20 December, Radcliffe and Maconie will host a one-day Festive Roadshow, from 1-4pm.
They will be broadcasting live from Manchester City Centre with live music and special guests.
Jarvis Cocker welcomes back Brian Eno on Sunday 22 December, from 4-6pm, armed with some essential A Cappella tracks to play.
Iggy Pop turns radio DJ to present from 1-3pm where he’ll explore Rockin’ Rebels as a soundtrack your Christmas lunch.
Then from 3pm, in The First Time With Lars Ulrich, presenter Matt Everitt asks Metallica’s drummer about his musical firsts.
In a rare and characteristically articulate interview, he discusses his childhood in his native Denmark, the early days of Metallica through to the arena gigs, his music passions from Ennio Morricone to Arctic Monkeys, and his friendship with Noel Gallagher.
Mick Jones and Paul Simonon of The Clash will present a two hour special, This is Radio Clash, from 1pm.
They were unflinching musical pioneers, integrating first militant reggae, then dub, funk, jazz and hip-hop into their sound, leaving behind an extraordinary recorded legacy.
Jones and Simonon will be sharing their experiences of that time, lifting the lid on the stories behind the music.
New Year’s Eve
Bringing the curtain down on 2013, Craig Charles gets the New Year’s Eve party started with the best in funk and soul from 7pm.
Then the first lady of dance music, Nemone, will be providing the perfect soundscape to bring in the New Year in Electric Ladyland from 10pm.
New Year's Day
Iggy Pop returns for a second show for the start of 2014, looking at Heartbreak and Heartaches, from 1-3pm.
