Has lockdown had a positive impact on those with drug addition?
Lockdown turned all our lives upside down, but for people with drug and alcohol additions it was a particularly desperate time.
As concerns were raised that those with drug and alcohol dependency could be left even more vulnerable, data given to Newsnight from the biggest provider of drug and alcohol services in the country shows a rare positive story from the pandemic - more people are coming to them for services.
The charity Change, Grow, Live works with 73,000 people across the UK. They’ve told Newsnight the number of people coming to them for opioid treatment has more than doubled since the start of the pandemic and the amount of service users using illicit substances has decreased.
