Tony Blair: Lebanon blast is a 'terrible, terrible event'
Former Prime Minister Tony Blair, who now runs the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, has told BBC Radio 5 Live that the deadly explosion in Lebanon is “a tragedy”.
Rescue workers are searching for more than 100 people who are missing after a huge explosion devastated the port area of the capital Beirut on Tuesday.
The blast killed at least 100 people and injured more than 4,000 others.
Speaking to 5 Live’s Emma Barnett, Mr Blair said the UK needs to “keep a careful watch on what’s happening in Lebanon” and that he feels “very sorry” for the Lebanese people.
