6-year-old with cancer donates own hair to help other children

Six-year-old Isla was diagnosed with Wilms’ tumour, a rare form of kidney cancer, at the start of 2019.

When treatment meant she started losing her hair, Isla donated it to be made into wigs for other children with similar illnesses.

Isla’s mum Jill spoke to 5 Live presenter Nihal Arthanayake about the strength her daughter has shown.

“Isla brought us out of it, rather than us bringing her out of it” she said.

This clip is from Nihal Arthanayake on 27 November 2019.
