Making plastic roof tiles from rubbish dumps
Hope Mwanake is a young Kenyan mum and entrepreneur, she makes affordable and durable roofing tiles. The tiles are made of plastic and are sourced from rubbish dumps. When she returned to her hometown after spending four years away at university, she was shocked at how plastic pollution had taken over. The fields where she used to play football were now rubbish heaps. She used the skills she gained throughout her degree in Environmental Science to find a practical solution.
