Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi on accusing Boris Johnson of inflaming racism
The UK's parliament is passing legislation to stop a no-deal Brexit against Prime Minister Boris Johnson's will. His attempt to call a general election also failed. Despite the high drama in parliament on Wednesday, one of the most shared videos on social media was when a Labour opposition backbencher accused the prime minister of racism. Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi, the Commons' first turbaned Sikh MP, tried to get former journalist Mr Johnson to address a 2018 newspaper column in which he said it was ridiculous that Muslim women should go around resembling 'letterboxes and bank robbers'. Newsday's Bola Mosuro spoke to Mr Dhesi and started with his response to the votes in parliament.
