Malorie Blackman: 'I wouldn’t be here without libraries'
Author of the ground-breaking young adult book series ‘Noughts & Crosses’, Malorie Blackman, says she wouldn’t be where she is today without falling in love with reading and writing at her local library when she was young.
“I would make my own way [to the library] every Saturday with a packed lunch and read as many books as I could.”
She says librarians were the ones to introduce her to new books and adds: “It breaks my heart that they are so undervalued.”
