Indian politician jailed over 1984 Sikh killings
Sajjan Kumar, a senior politician from India's Congress party has been jailed for life for his involvement in riots which killed more than 3,000 Sikhs. The violence was sparked by the murder of the then Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi, by her Sikh bodyguards. Angry mobs wanting to take revenge for her murder, took to the streets and targeted Sikhs.
Professor Swaran Singh was a young Sikh doctor living in Delhi at the time - he described the moment the violence broke out.
