Barely two years ago it was a byword for all that was bad about the web: illicit deals, hacking and outright theft. How times change. In recent months its value has soared, along with perhaps its credibility. But how does Bitcoin live up to the original goals of its creators, as a "peer-to-peer electronic cash system"?
