Vaginal mesh operations 'should be banned'

The UK's health watchdog, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), wants to ban vaginal mesh operations. The plastic strips are used to treat stress incontinence caused by organs slipping out of place, which can happen after childbirth. There have been horrific stories of the mesh operations causing severe pain, nerve damage and other debilitating conditions. Professor Carl Heneghan is the Director of the Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine at Oxford University.
