Ai Weiwei says Western countries failed Liu Xiaobo
China's best-known dissident, the Nobel Peace laureate Liu Xiaobo, has died at the age of 61. He had recently been moved from prison to hospital for cancer treatment. Western governments had called on Beijing to allow him to go overseas for treatment, but the Chinese dissident artist Ai Weiwei, who knew him for many years, says the West made too little effort to press for Mr Liu's release during his time in prison.
