NHS England: The new plan

NHS boss says there will be “trade-offs” for improved care in other areas

NHS England's plan to transform the way it treats millions of patients will see patients face longer waits for hospital operations such as knee and hip replacements in a "trade-off" for quicker A&E and cancer care.

Zoe Conway reports from Nottinghamshire with elderly people, who would normally be treated in hospital for osteoporosis, being treated at home.

Simon Stevens, chief of NHS in England, says that there will be tough decisions as the service tries to meet the growing number of patients and their higher expectations of care.
