The Danakil Depression could unlock secrets to life on Mars
Scientists have begun studying the biology of the unique volcanic region in Ethiopia in the hope of finding out more about what 'the limits of life' are. Felipe Gómez Gómez of the Centro de Astrobiología in Madrid says this might help them understand whether other planets like Mars are habitable. The depression lies 100 metres below sea level and is one of the hottest and most unwelcoming places on Earth.
