The ugly side of the beautiful game
Racism in sport remains a problem in many parts of the world whether it's on American football pitches in the US or at Premiership grounds in the UK. In the 1970s and 1980s, though, it was far worse with black players regularly facing racist abuse. In 1979, a match between black and white players was meant to address this, but it ended up being seen as just as offensive, as Nick Miles reports.
