Responding to Africa’s population boom

Statistics show that the population of many African countries is set to double by 2050, when Nigeria alone will be home to almost 400 million people.

The nations experiencing this boom may struggle to cope, prompting people to seek opportunities abroad. So how should the leaders of developed nations respond? Joseph Chamie is the former director of the United Nations Population Division.
