Authorities in Egypt say they will increase the penalty for people who force young women in to female genital mutilation. The country has one of the highest rates of FGM in the world
A long awaited ceasefire between the Colombian government and the left-wing rebels known as FARC has come into effect. For over 50 years, one of the world's longest running conflicts has killed an estimated 260,000 people and displaced millions.
