Turkish PM on Syrian refugee citizenship
Turkey may grant Syrian refugees citizenship in the future providing they meet certain requirements, but this would not happen immediately, the country's Prime Minister Binali Yildirim has told BBC HARDtalk.
"They are not our citizens but they are being treated like citizens. They can benefit from all rights, right to travel, right to healthcare, education, work. Only they don't have our ID cards," he said.
"If they haven't been involved in terrorism or anything unlawful, done nothing wrong, if they are going to stay here and be of benefit to the country, of course we will think of granting them citizenship rights," he added.
