Fergus Nicholl is Live for Business Matters in Philadelphia as Day One of the Democratic Convention kicks off. Hillary Clinton is to be crowned the party's presidential candidate there, but it's already proving to be a bumpy ride.

The US telecom giant, Verizon, has agreed to buy the core business of the internet pioneer Yahoo for $4.8 bn. The deal includes Yahoo's email service as well as its advertising tools.
