Could hedgehogs derail HS2 project?
Concerns about hedgehogs in one of London’s biggest parks are the focus of the latest attempt to derail the HS2 project.
The Zoological Society of London (ZSL) has submitted a petition to the House of Lords voicing its fears for hedgehogs in Regent’s Park.
A car park due to be used by lorries in the HS2 project has proved particularly popular with the hedgehogs.
HS2 says it is committed to protecting wildlife and will work with ZSL to find a solution to any specific problem.
Hugo Warwick, from the British Hedgehog Preservation Society, explained the problem to Today programme presenter John Humphrys.
