Phil Scraton: What is the cost of Hillsborough?

Professor Phil Scraton, author and member of the Hillsborough Independent Panel discusses the cost of the tragedy in which 96 football fans died on 15 April 1989.

Inquests into the disaster ruled the supporters who died were "unlawfully killed."

‘The cost of Hillsborough is the price that has been paid by all of those who have survived, the price of survival,’ Scraton said.

‘Many of the survivors have suffered intensely since. Physically, mentally and some through the loss of life,’ he added.

Hear more from Professor Phil Scraton in 'Hillsborough: The Truth' on 5 live Sport at 8pm on Wednesday 27 April.

The programme will be available to download as a podcast shortly after on the 5 live website.
