Newport homeless man: a ban on rough sleeping won't move us
Homeless people in Newport could soon have to move out of the city centre if they sleep rough at night.
Kevin has been sleeping rough for 34 years, which he said has been 'by choice' but he said he struggles to stay in hostels.
Carl told 5live's Mark Hutchings that even if the ban comes in he will stay in the city centre and would risk the police moving him along.
Newport City Council said, if agreed, the order would make it 'unlawful to sleep rough in the city centre but it would not ban homeless people from the city centre or prevent them from gaining access to night shelters within this area'.
The Council will discuss the so-called Public Space Protection Order on Thursday evening.
