From Radiohead to Here We Go Magic

Guy Garvey reveals what it is about experimental indie rockers Here We Go Magic that floats his boat, and features music from their influences Radiohead, Paul Simon & J.J. Cale.

Elbow frontman and BBC Radio 6 Music DJ Guy Garvey delves into his personal music box to reveal which artist he’s excited about at the moment and who they're influenced by.

In this episode, Guy brings the amazing Here We Go Magic to the limelight, a band he loves and who he believes haven’t yet been given the exposure they are worthy of. The programme also features music from artists who have influenced the band. including Radiohead, Paul Simon, and J.J. Cale.

Always experimental, always ambitious, the 2008-formed band Here Wo Go Magic has taken indie rock on fascinating tangents across two critically acclaimed albums - 2010’s Pigeons and 2012’s Nigel Godrich-produced A Different Ship - which followed a largely self-recorded eponymous debut of 2009.

Join Guy in Elbow’s studio to hear his thoughts on the New York based band; their sound, song writing and musical influences, and get an exclusive first look at the video to Here We Go Magic’s next single ‘Falling’, directed by Sam Kuhn, from the upcoming album ‘Be Small’.

Guy is joined by BBC Music family member, BBC Radio 2’s Bob Harris, who has his own take on Here We Go Magic’s sound. Bob also introduces a gem of a live recording from The Old Grey Whistle Test back in 1980.
