Musharraf: Charges against me ‘pumped up’
The former Pakistani president Pervez Musharraf says charges of treason and murder against him are totally politicised and that there is a vendetta against him.
The charges relate to the period when as president in 2007 he instigated a state of emergency. He said at the time the measure was necessary to combat Islamist terrorism and extremism but his critics have suggested it was a tool for him to stay in power.
He told Stephen Sackur he was confident justice would prevail.
