The Somme in Seven Poems

More poets and writers fought in the Battle of the Somme than any other battle.

This anthology of animated poems uses the work of Robert Graves, David Jones, Siegfried Sassoon and others to relay the experiences of these poets during the battle. The animations were specially commissioned for the BBC Two documentary War of Words: Soldier-Poets of the Somme.

War poetry in virtual reality

War poetry in virtual reality

The film contains an anthology of poignant war poem animated by BAFTA and RTS Award winning animation house BDH. BDH have also published a virtual experience available for download (Android only).

War of Words executive producer Michael Poole says: "Using virtual reality to explore one of the most hard-hitting poems to come out of WW1 really enhances the power of Siegfried Sassoon’s words. We really hope that people, young and old, will find this an illuminating experience to coincide with the BBC's Remembrance Season."
