Derek and walk guide Rhys Mwyn walk through the impressive old Dinorwig quarry. Competition from abroad, roofing tiles and artificial slate, together with extraction problems and tips collapsing led to closure of the quarry in 1969, after 170 years of hard graft.
Derek and Rhys then take in the views of Snowdon, Llanberis Pass and Llyn Padarn from a viewpoint high above the valley.
