Switzerland: Stolen Childhoods
For Our World, Kavita Puri goes to Switzerland and hears the extraordinary stories of survivors who lived as indentured child labourers.
From the nineteenth century until the mid1960's in Switzerland, thousands of children from poor backgrounds, were sent to work on farms as cheap forced labour. Many of these verdingkinder, or "contract children" experienced years of physical and mental abuse.
Now campaigners have launched a petition to pressure Parliament to pay them compensation. For Our World, Kavita Puri goes to Switzerland and hears the extraordinary stories of survivors who lived as indentured child labourers.
