Music for Good Friday

Daniel Hyde, director of music at King's College Cambridge, conducts the BBC Singers and BBC Concert Orchestra, live from Watford Colosseum. Presented by Martin Handley.

Presented by Martin Handley, live from Watford Colosseum. The BBC Singers and BBC Concert Orchestra are joined by conductor Daniel Hyde, Director of Music at King's College Cambridge. There's choral music by Dobrinka Tabakova, Composer in Residence with the BBC CO, and Roderick Williams; and the orchestra play music by influential American composer Judith Lang Zaimont and Joseph Haydn. The climax of the concert is a recent orchestration of Vaughan Wiilliams's Dona nobis pacem, which uses texts from the Mass, the Bible and poems by Walt Whitman.
