Who doesn't remember that Tony Blair soundbite of feeling the hand of history on our shoulders but in general terms, does that hand hold us back or guide us towards an honest appraisal of a country's past?
Earlier this month around 175 historians wrote a letter of complaint about the British government's Citizenship test because of what they said were misleading and false representations of slavery and empire.
So, when we look throughout the world, which countries have truly acknowledged their history?
