Breakfast Carol Competition Results

Live from Maida Vale Studios in London, Petroc Trelawny presents Radio 3's classical breakfast show and announces the winner of the 2019 Radio 3 Breakfast Carol Competition.

Live from Maida Vale Studios in London, Petroc Trelawny presents Radio 3's classical breakfast show and announces the winner of the 2019 Radio 3 Breakfast Carol Competition. Earlier this year, amateur composers were challenged to create new music for a specially commissioned poem – Come to the Child - by Imtiaz Dharker. Hundreds of entries were whittled down to just 6 by a panel of expert judges, including the Principal Guest Conductor of the BBC Singers Bob Chilcott. For the last week, listeners have been voting for their favourite, and the winner of the most votes will be revealed by Petroc during the last hour of the programme. He is joined by the BBC Singers, conducted by Bob Chilcott, who will perform the winning carol live, as well as some traditional Christmas favourites.
The winning competition carol will be broadcast throughout the Christmas period as part of the seasonal celebrations on BBC Radio 3.
