This week Elizabeth Alker presents a round-up of the best of the BBC Performing Groups this year, and we go live to Maida Vale, Media City, and Temple Church for some special festive performances.
Live from Maida Vale studios The BBC Singers and Principal Guest Conductor Bob Chilcott perform the six shortlisted carols in this year’s BBC Radio 3 Breakfast Carol Competition. Hundreds of amateur composers enter the annual competition, and this year entrants have set Go to the Child by the Pakistani-British poet Imtiaz Dharker. Alongside the six settings are solo works for the festive period.
